Audio prompts · Family keepsake

A voice message can carry a whole family.

Invite the people you love to record one small, specific welcome. Their natural voices are the point—no script, microphone or polished performance required.

What should you say in a voice message to a future baby?

Introduce yourself, explain how you are connected to the family, share one short story and end with a simple welcome. Thirty to ninety seconds is plenty.

Prompts for the people waiting

Parent or caregiverWhat changed when you learned about the pregnancy? What ordinary day do you want to remember?
GrandparentWhich family story or tradition would you like to pass forward?
SiblingWhat are you excited to show, teach or do together?
FriendWhat do you hope this child eventually understands about their family?

How to keep the message natural

  • Record somewhere quiet enough to hear, but not so formal that everyone freezes.
  • Give the person one prompt instead of a full script.
  • Keep the laughter, pause or second attempt if it feels like them.
  • Add their name, relationship and the date in the title or note.

Tell each person what the recording is for and who may hear it. A family keepsake is still someone else’s voice. Do not publish or broadly share it without clear permission.
