Fovri
Privacy Policy
Updated 4 November 2026
Your cookbook stays on your iPhone. This page explains internet imports, optional AI help, subscriptions, app analytics and your choices.
Who is responsible
Fovri is provided by Kenneth Marcel S De Geest, a self-employed developer (autónomo) based in Spain. For support or privacy requests, contact degeestkenneth@gmail.com.
Your cookbook and backups
No personal Fovri account is required. Saved recipes, source links, folders, favorites, meal plans, grocery information, drafts, notes and saved photos are stored locally on your iPhone. Fovri does not operate cloud cookbook sync. Apple device backups may include app files according to your iPhone and iCloud settings.
You choose whether and where to export a recipe or cookbook backup. Backup files can contain recipe content, plans, drafts and included photos. Keep them private and manage exported copies through their destination.
Importing from websites and videos
When you add or share a link, Fovri contacts the source website and relevant media hosts to retrieve recipe text, captions, images or available video. Those providers receive normal connection information such as an IP address and requested URL, under their own policies. Available text and video can be analysed on your device. Video files used for analysis are temporary and removed after analysis. Opening the original recipe uses the source app or your browser.
Extra import help through Firebase and OpenAI
Extra import help can be turned off in Settings and is enabled by default in the current version. When it is enabled and local importing needs help, Fovri sends relevant source text, a video identifier, language information and/or selected video frames with source context to our service hosted on Google Firebase and Google Cloud. That service sends the relevant text and frames to OpenAI, which performs the AI processing to extract a recipe or generate a clearly labelled AI-inspired suggestion. Firebase does not perform the AI inference. Frames may include people or other details visible in the source video. Do not import private or sensitive material unless you are comfortable with this processing.
Your full cookbook, personal notes and unrelated photos are not sent for this purpose. The app creates a private anonymous Firebase service account without asking for a name or email. Firebase Authentication processes a pseudonymous user identifier and authentication information. Cloud Functions and Firestore process request hashes, job status, usage counts and the minimum cached result needed to limit abuse and avoid repeat AI requests. Hosting providers may also process IP addresses, timestamps and technical service logs. App-controlled logs use generic operational categories rather than recipe text, selected frames, access tokens, AI prompts containing your content or raw AI responses.
Users upgrading from an earlier version may have an existing anonymous Supabase service session. During the temporary migration period, the app can send that existing access token to Fovri’s protected Firebase migration endpoint. The endpoint asks Supabase to validate the session, associates its pseudonymous identifier with a Firebase account and transfers applicable service settings, usage counters and cached import results. It does not transfer your local cookbook, personal notes, unrelated photos or complete videos. After successful migration, normal extra-import requests use Firebase, not Supabase. Supabase remains temporarily available only for this legacy migration and rollback period.
Requests to OpenAI disable response storage. This does not mean that no provider records exist: OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring data under its applicable policies. API data is not used for model training by default. See OpenAI’s API data controls. Turning extra import help off stops future requests from the app; it does not recall information already processed.
Subscriptions, paywalls and the yearly trial
Apple handles billing; we do not receive payment-card details. RevenueCat supplies the paywall, verifies subscriptions and supports purchase restoration. It processes an app customer identifier, product and transaction information, purchase history, subscription status and relevant app/device information. Paywall interaction events and experiment assignments may be used to compare paywall versions and understand purchase outcomes. Recipe content is not sent to RevenueCat.
An active Fovri Pro subscription is required to use Fovri after onboarding. The monthly subscription is billed immediately. Apple offers eligible new subscribers a 14-day free trial on the yearly subscription only. Eligibility is determined by Apple and is generally limited to one introductory offer per subscription group. The yearly subscription starts immediately and, unless cancelled before the trial ends, Apple charges the yearly price shown in the purchase confirmation. Cancelling prevents renewal but does not delete the cookbook stored on the iPhone.
App analytics and diagnostics
Fovri uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand whether the app is working and how its features are used. Firebase Analytics automatically records events such as first opening the app, starting a session and engaging with the app. Fovri also records privacy-safe events for onboarding completion or skipping; import start, source and outcome; adding a recipe to Cook Next; checking a grocery item; starting and completing cooking; viewing the paywall; and completing a purchase, including whether the selected plan is monthly or yearly. These events do not contain recipe names, source URLs, ingredients, grocery text, notes, photos or imported content.
Analytics may process an app-instance identifier, Apple’s identifier for the vendor (IDFV), app version, device model, operating-system version, language, approximate location derived from the IP address, timestamps and information about app interactions. We use the event sequence associated with the same app instance to measure activation, defined as a successful import followed by adding that recipe to Cook Next within 24 hours. We do not send your saved recipes, ingredient lists, meal plans, grocery entries, notes, photos or imported source content to Firebase Analytics.
Fovri also uses Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports and privacy-safe operational diagnostics. Crashlytics may process a Firebase installation identifier, crash traces, device and operating-system details, app state and generic categories describing whether a cloud-import operation succeeded or failed. Fovri does not deliberately include recipe text, selected video frames, access tokens, personal notes or raw AI responses in these diagnostics.
We use aggregated analytics and diagnostics to measure reliability and adoption, understand which features need improvement and guide product decisions. Analytics data is not made available for personalised advertising, and Fovri does not use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Google processes this information for us under its applicable Firebase and Google Analytics terms. See Privacy and Security in Firebase and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Permissions and advertising
Notifications are used, with iOS permission, for import completion, grocery completion and cooking timers. Choose whether to receive them in iPhone Settings. Photos or files you select are used for the action you request. Fovri does not include advertising SDKs, sell your personal information or use your cookbook for advertising. Firebase Analytics is configured for measurement rather than personalised advertising, and RevenueCat’s purchase and paywall measurement is described above.
Purposes and legal bases
We process information needed to deliver the imports, AI assistance and paid access you request to perform our agreement with you. We use limited analytics, security and operational information on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving Fovri, maintaining a reliable service, preventing abuse and resolving support requests. Consent applies where required, including applicable device permissions. Legally required records are processed to meet legal obligations. We do not make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
Retention and deletion
Local cookbook data remains until you remove it or delete the app. Device backups and exported copies remain under the controls of their destination. Anonymous service-session records may survive an app reinstall.
Import-result caches and usage counters are designed for reuse and abuse prevention, with cleanup of entries older than seven days when subsequent import requests run; this is not a guaranteed seven-day deletion deadline. Firebase Analytics information is retained according to our Google Analytics retention settings and Google’s applicable policies. Authentication records, hosting logs and backups follow the relevant provider settings. Purchase records may be retained to restore access and meet recordkeeping obligations. Support correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the request, related disputes and legal obligations.
Contact us to request deletion of service information we control. We may need an analytics, service or purchase identifier to locate it and may need to retain records required by law or for a valid purchase. Deleting a local recipe does not automatically delete earlier service caches or analytics events. We cannot remotely retrieve or erase the cookbook stored only on your iPhone.
Providers and international processing
Providers include Google Firebase and Google Cloud for anonymous authentication, server functions, private operational storage, app analytics and diagnostics; OpenAI for AI import help; Supabase temporarily for validation and transfer of legacy anonymous service sessions; RevenueCat for subscriptions and paywalls; Apple for the App Store and device services; Google/Gmail for support email; and GitHub Pages for this website. Source websites process the connections you request separately.
These providers may process information outside Spain or the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers use applicable adequacy decisions or contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your request.
Your rights and choices
Where applicable, you can request access, correction, erasure, portability or restriction of personal information we control, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact the email above with only the information needed for your request; do not send your full cookbook or unnecessary sensitive material. We may request proportionate identity verification and normally respond within one month, explaining any permitted extension.
You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or your local supervisory authority. Manage local records, exports, device backups and notification permissions through their respective app or device controls.
Website, support and children
This portfolio does not use advertising trackers or website analytics. GitHub Pages may process IP addresses, requested pages, browser details and timestamps to deliver and secure the site. Support email includes the address, message and attachments you send and is processed by the email providers involved. Fovri is not directed to children under 13; contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information.
