What this calculator estimates
wages + overtime wages + tips − tip-out = gross earningsThe optional withholding field applies the percentage you choose to the gross estimate. It is useful for planning, but it is not a tax calculation and does not reproduce a pay stub.
Why tips and your deposited paycheck may look different
Employers report tip income and withhold applicable taxes through payroll, while cash tips may already be in your possession. A pay stub can therefore show taxable tip income without depositing that same tip amount again.
What this estimate does not include
- State-specific rulesMinimum cash wages and tip-credit rules differ.
- Exact taxesFiling status, deductions and payroll settings matter.
- Other deductionsBenefits, meals, uniforms or garnishments are not modeled.
Keep the shift-level record
A payroll estimate is easier to understand when you have your own daily record of tips, tip-out and hours. The IRS says employees generally should keep a daily tip record and report tip income as required.

Keep every shift’s numbers together.
